THE Outburst!
We try too hard to be nice. We try too hard to be "normal" to put on a brave face or be polite or spare people from our true thoughts about a plethora of things. Always thinking, what will they think? What if they don't understand? What if no-one likes me when I tell them?! It makes me want to scream!
WHY ARE WE SO PREOCCUPIED ABOUT THEM when we are essentially lying to spare their feelings or shield them from the ugly thoughts we are battling with? This isn't about being rude in the name of being honest, or causing trouble for no reason. It's more about saying what needs to be said. Being a change agent for the right cause whether it's in defense of your faith, a right, fighting against injustice or pushing someone to be a better version of themselves.
Christians are encouraged to be "your brothers keeper" and to "love your neighbour as you love yourself". The point being we shouldn't live in silos. Essentially that is selfish and narrow thinking. When we see that someone is being victimized, we can be their support system, we can preempt their defense reactions, we can point them in the direction they can get help.
If it's a new law that contradicts your faith, the least you and I can do is voice our views, join forces with those who share our beliefs, inform people of the proposed changes and make our views known. The rest is out of our control.
This is really a call to be fearless about our faith. This is a call to share what God has placed on our hearts. To be concerned enough about someone else, that we do something to help them.
"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers." Galatians 6:9 & 10
