TIMELESS RELEVANCE?

Is relevance timeless? Can it be? There is so much affecting us right now as humanity whether it's the battle against rape culture in India, the recent vote on abortion in the Republic of Ireland, the constant sensitization against FGM affecting women in many countries in Africa, the Middle East and Asia or political movements such as Brexit, the summit between USA and North Korea or the fresh fervor of Emmanuel Macron of France.

Can you tell that I keep an eye on current affairs? I believe it matters what is happening around the world. I think as Christians, we need to remember that our identity is first as Gods children, as followers of Christ before our political views, our race, our gender or indeed anything else. We are to seek Gods kingdom first. What Would Jesus Do - WWJD was/is a great acronym to remind us to think of how Christ would view a situation or how He would act in various everyday settings.

Relevance is the importance or significance of something. Many of us seek to be significant or do something significant. What is more significant than time and what is more important that doing something that stands the test of time? So as we seek relevance and to be profound or at the very least respected, let's remember our foundations. Our identity in Christ, our reference - Jesus, our acceptability and accountability - by God. THEN and only after that, should be tweet, share, like, speak on, blog about or vlog anything. Remembering that it isn't the number of views, shares or likes that really matters in the end. We represent Jesus Christ in this world but do we really represent Jesus Christ in this world? That matters. Our opinions matter. How we treat each other matters.

What will matter is what we stand for, what we say, what we do or don't do, what or who we serve. That is relevant.

Scriptural references: Matthew 6:33 - seek Gods Kingdom, Romans 14:12 & 1 Peter 4:5 - individual accountability of each of us
